    Abstract

The suburban space is divided into blocks. In backyards we decorate, extend, plant, live, play and have adventures. In recent time at home we have pitched tents in our garden for kids and loved our suburban existence. Spending prolonged time in a place heightens noticing. Backyard Adventure Club attempts to accentuate texture, shapes, colour and more generally time passing.

During a time of uncertainty the backyard is a sanctuary, providing a literal and figurative grounding. Views from this extension of home reveal the surrounding neighbourhood In the distance and the suggestion of other backyard adventure clubs. A sense of space is constructed over time from ideas and available materials in a similar way to the process of art making.
