© EDP Sciences, Società Italiana di Fisica, Springer-Verlag 2016. The Lévy flights’ diffusive behavior is studied within the framework of the dynamical continuous time random walk (DCTRW) method, while the nonlinear friction is introduced in each step. Through the DCTRW method, Lévy random walker in each step flies by obeying the Newton’s Second Law while the nonlinear friction f(v) = -?0v - ?2v3 being considered instead of Stokes friction. It is shown that after introducing the nonlinear friction, the superdiffusive Lévy flights converges, behaves localization phenomenon with long time limit, but for the Lévy index µ = 2 case, it is still Brownian motion.

An Experimental Study on Normal Stress and Shear Rate Dependency of Basic Friction Coefficient in Dry and Wet Limestone JointsMehrishal, S.; Sharifzadeh, Mostafa; Shahriar, K.; Song, J. (2016)© 2016 Springer-Verlag Wien. Among all parameters that affect the friction of rocks, variable normal stress and slip rate are the most important second-order parameters. The shear-rate- and normal-stress-dependent friction ...
Effects of hard particles on friction coefficients and particle embedment in brake system during hard brakingAbdul Hamid, M.; Stachowiak, Gwidon; Syahrullail, S. (2012)The effects of hard particles on the friction coefficients and particle embedment during hard braking were investigated. Silica sands grit of the size between 180 to 355 µm were used during the experiments. The results ...
