    Abstract

Assessments that use scenario-based conversations with students build rapport, bypass academic integrity challenges and provide an efficient means to test learners’ knowledge and understanding. This assessment type, the interactive oral assessment (IOA), can seem challenging to introduce. In this workshop, you will learn about scaling IOAs to different sized groups of learners and meeting principles of universal design for learning. The workshop covers designing the scenario, designing the rubric, conducting the conversation, additional logistics involved in running the assessment smoothly. The workshop involves fleshing out an IOA over the 90 minutes, guided by the Louise.
